چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background: Cyclosporine-A(CsA) is an immunosuppressive polypeptide which is produced byTolypocladium inflatum gams and can cause infertility. Satureja hortensis or summer savory is a one year plant from Lamiaceae family which is used as a motive drug, anti-bloat, anti-infection and sexual power enhancer. According to positive effects of S. hortensis and negative effects of CsA we will evaluate ameliorative effects of Satureja hortensis on histological changes of testicular tissue induced by CsA. Materials and Methods: Twenty four adult male rats weighing 200±20 gr were divided into three groups (n=8): control group which received no treatment; CsA group which received 40/mg/kg/dayCsAand CsA-S. hortensis group received 40/mg/kg/day CsA and 100 mg/kg/day aqueous extract of S. hortensis with oral gavage. Half of each group was sacrificed on 21st day of treatment and the other half on 45th day, and the testicular tissues were collected and fixed and stained with Haematoxylin and Eosin (H&E). The prepared slides were evaluated with light microscope. Results: In CsA group diameter of seminiferous tubules and the percentage of tubules with spermatozoa were decreased. The results announced a decline in uniformity and density of testis interstitial tissue. Negative effects in above mentioned parameters were stronger in 45th day in comparison with 21th day. S. hortensis in CsA-S. hortensis group caused partially amelioration in testicular tissue. Conclusion: CsA can cause testicular toxicity and S. hortensis can decrease its detrimental effects on testis.
