عنوان انگلیسی Effect of 8-weeks Judo Training on Life Expectancy, Motivation and Mental Health of Blind and Visually Impaired Veterans of 8-year Holy Defense War in Tehran
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Aims: The purpose of present study was to explore the effect of 8-weeks Judo trainings on life expectancy, motivation and mental health of blind and visually impaired veterans of 8-year holy defense war in Tehran. Methods: This research is practical in terms of purpose and experimental in terms of nature and method. Statistical population consisted of all blind and visually impaired non-athletes’ males of Tehran province in Iran (N=100). 40 individuals were selected and randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group (20 participants) and a control group (20 participants). Miller hope scale (MHS), Goldberg general health questionnaire (GHQ) and Willis’s sport attitude inspection questioners (SAI) were used as measuring tools. In order to test the hypotheses of the research,a paired t-test was used to compare the mean scores within each group (pre-test and post-test) and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was employed to compare the differences between the two separate groups using 26th version of SPSS software. Findings: The results showed that there was a significant difference between life expectancy and mental health, apart from the two components of social function symptoms and depression symptoms, and between the competitive motivation of blind and visually impaired veterans of Tehran province before and after eight weeks of judo training. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the motivation to achieve success is the desire of people to win, and competitiveness and motivation to achieve success is one of the characteristics that is more evident in athletes.
