Identifying and prioritizing strategies for achieving scientific supremacy in one of the universities in northwest of Iran |

Background & Objective: Improving Iran's position as a developed country requires improving the productivity of the scientific, research and technological system. In order to move towards scientific supremacy, universities need to choose a field of academic distinction. The purpose of this study is to determine the strategies for implementing the scientific supremacy in the field of the university excellence. Materials & Methods: The study was descriptive-survey. In order to determine the strategies for achieving supremacy, SWOT-QSPM technique was used. Identification of internal and external factors of the university was completed through semi-structured interviews with six university experts to a degree of theoretical saturation. To score the factors, a questionnaire was prepared and filled by forty related faculty members. QSPM technique was used to evaluate and prioritize the selected strategies. Results: SWOT matrix analysis led to the identification of 34 factors (17 internal and 17 external factors). The final scores of internal and external factors were 2.29 and 2.03, respectively and led the university in to the WT zone. According to the QSPM analysis, the prioritized strategies were communication and interaction at different levels, human resource development, financial resource development, and drafting related documents and regulations. Conclusion: According to SWOT analysis, the most important strategies to achieve scientific supremacy in the field of academic distinction is to enhance strengths and take advantage of opportunities by providing financial and human resources, developing regulations and communicating with other universities and organizations. |
