عنوان انگلیسی Relationship between Spiritual Health and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress in Hospitalized Patients
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Introduction: Because of the threat that surgery creates for the whole body, anxiety or stress is one of the most common problems before surgery, on the other hand, hospitalization, itself, can be associated with depression and anxiety that all of these affect the duration of hospitalization and process of patient recovery. Therefore, current study was performed to investigate the relationship between spiritual health and depression, anxiety and stress in patients hospitalized in General Surgery Unit. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 300 patients admitted to general Surgery Unit of Shiraz Namazi Hospital who were selected by simple random method in 2017. The questionnaire which was consisted of three parts: demographic data, Ellison-Palutzian spiritual health questionnaire and DASS-21 depression, anxiety and stress questionnaire, was completed by samples. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS software version 22 and using descriptive tests (mean, frequency) and analysis tests (Spearman correlation coefficient). Results: Based on the data obtained in this study, spiritual health was a significantly related with depression, anxiety and stress (p < 0.001) and the relationship between depression and anxiety with spiritual health was stronger than stress with spiritual health. Conclusion: Results showed that whatever the spiritual health of patients in the Surgery Unit is more they experience less depression, anxiety and stress. Therefore, paying attention to the spiritual health and needs of hospitalized patients seem to be necessary to promote and improve the quality of their care.
