عنوان انگلیسی Identification of Fouling Profiles in a Heat Exchanger Pipe with Presence of Two-Phase Flow Using Inverse Heat Transfer Method, a Numerical Study
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Fouling occurs in industrial heat exchangers, and because it has a low thermal conductivity, it reduces the thermal efficiency of the heat exchanger and leads to energy loss. In this study, the estimation and identification of the fouling profile in the heat exchanger pipe with two-phase and turbulent flow is investigated using the inverse heat transfer method. The conjugate gradient method (CGM) for function estimation is applied. The volume of fluid (VOF) method in the Open FOAM is used to simulate the two-phase flow. Heat transfer occurs as a conjugate of thermal conduction and convection, and the problem is solved in a steady state. The inverse heat transfer method used here is stable, low-cost, and does not rely on prior training data, making it practical for real-world applications. The results show that the optimal conditions for solving the inverse heat transfer problem of the heat exchanger pipe for the turbulence model, the number of temperature thermocouples, and the standard deviation are k-ω SST, 7, and 0.0005, respectively. The results also show that this algorithm can estimate the fouling profile for two-phase flow with different superficial velocities at the inlet. In addition, the results show that the inverse heat transfer method can estimate the fouling profile with good accuracy for different geometries of the fouling profile. The fouling profile functions are estimated with relative errors of 2.61 and 1.79% for the circular and triangular geometries, respectively. The algorithm presented in the current study can be used to estimate the fouling profile in the heat exchanger pipe with different fouling profile geometries and different superficial velocities at the inlet, and it estimates the fouling profile with acceptable accuracy.
