One of the problem in the Islamic Ummah caused by Wahhabism today is the issue of takfir. The article has been intended to be a comparative study of the approach of the People of Hadith and Wahhabism in the Nawaqiz al-Islam. Wahhabis consider the realization of nawaqiz in four areas: speech, action, belief, and doubt, and due to the development of the concept of worship, the limitation of ignorance as an excuse, and the lack of a necessary condition for the realization of naqiz, they have added new cases to the nawaqiz of Islam. This approach ignores the status of the person in the realization of disbelief. The research method of this article is descriptive analysis and the findings of the research show that the People of Hadith, unlike Wahhabism, consider intention as the axis in actions, especially worship, and in nawaqiz, they have avoided maximum takfir due to their emphasis on cases with text and consensus. For this reason, the Companions of Hadith did not develop examples of takfir and in cases of disagreement, they clearly show that there is no ramy bi shirk and kufr on their part. This article emphasizes that Wahhabism, in addition to developing examples, also does not agree with the basic rules of the Ahl al-Hadith in terms of criteria and concepts.
