عنوان انگلیسی Evaluation prevalence of Rh system major antigens (D, C, c, E, e) and their phenotypes in blood donors of Golestan province, Iran
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background and Objectives:
Blood donors are examined for the antigens of the ABO and Rh systems. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of Rh system antigens (D, C, c, E, e) and its phenotype in the blood donors with a view to, Identify the blood group phenotypes of the donors in any population is important to improve health care services and to better serve patients.
Methods:
A descriptive study was carried on 575 healthy donors (Turkmen and Fars) referred to blood transfusion centers in Golestan province. From each sample, a cell suspension (3-5%) was prepared in normal saline and exposed to Rh system antiserums using haemagglutination technique. Finally, Rh phenotype was determined based on the most common genotype.
Results:
For the Rh system, the antigen frequencies of D, C, c, E, and e are respectively, 87.76%, 73.6%, 72.1%, 30.83%, and 93.59%.The most common phenotype in donors (Turkmen and Far) was R1R1 , R1r and rr respectively, and the lowest was R2Rz, ryry. The phenotype r'r' and ryry in Turkmen donors and phenotype r''r' in Fars donors were not detected.

Conclusion:
Identifying the prevalence of blood group antigens from donors in each region is important in organizing negative antigen blood units, preparing compatible blood for multitransfused and preventing the development of alloantibodies in these patients.
