چکیده انگلیسی مقاله The present article examines a part of the history of theology, which developed in the reign of the Seljuqs and after the waning of authority of the Shi'ite Buyids. Addressing the five theological schools of Ima miyya, Mu'tazilites, Ash'arites, Maturidites, and Karra miyya, the writer touches upon the role of power trends in the rise and fall of such subjects of discourse and pointed out that there has been no unanimity among Muslims concerning theological discourses. He further asserts that such intellectual competition in the most fundamental Islamic issues has been a common practice. This, however, has at times led to unfavorable consequences due to the society's low level of intellectual perception.
